Eco-Friendly Innovation – Stone Paper

The production of traditional wood pulp paper requires the felling of trees, followed by a pulping process involving strong acids, alkalis, and bleaching agents to remove impurities and whiten the pulp. Large quantities of water are also needed for washing to produce clean wood pulp.

During the papermaking process, water is further required to dissolve the pulp. Although the wastewater is treated to meet government discharge standards, it still contains residual impurities that are released into rivers and oceans. Traditional wood pulp paper production not only contributes to deforestation and exacerbates global warming but also discharges significant wastewater that pollutes aquatic ecosystems. Despite its environmental costs, paper remains indispensable in human civilization, driving societal progress and development. It is both a blessing and a curse—an essential part of modern life that we cannot imagine living without.

In 2006, Min Chiang Paper Co., Ltd. began testing eco-friendly stone paper printing. Stone paper is a groundbreaking innovation developed and manufactured in Taiwan. Through 12 years of extensive research, trials, and investments, Longmeng Technology succeeded in creating a paper alternative using primarily inorganic mineral powder (stone powder) combined with a small amount of resin.

This revolutionary manufacturing process requires no tree cutting, no water usage, no wastewater discharge, and no air emissions, making it completely pollution-free. The resulting product, named "Longmeng Eco-Paper" or simply "Longmeng Paper," has received invention patents in over 40 countries worldwide.

In response to growing environmental concerns, many printed materials now use stone paper as an eco-friendly alternative. Although the printing and processing methods for stone paper differ from traditional wood pulp paper, Min Chiang has conducted extensive testing to overcome technical challenges in its production. With these advancements, stone paper offers a practical and sustainable choice for printing and packaging needs.
